Get your citroen ready for summer

The jury may be out on global warming after we have had the worst winter in 20 years but every now and again, the UK does bask in Summer heat.

Just when the weather is nice enough for you to go somewhere in the car, we've noticed that someone thinks it is a great idea to dig the roads up. Brilliant! Miles of cones but nobody has any idea who put them there because it is very rare to see anybody actually working.

Apart from breakdown recovery crews, of course because warmer weather frays motorists' tempers (as well as fan belts) and all sorts of cooling system nasties come to light. Just when you need to keep your cool behind the wheel, there's every chance the air conditioning system you've longed to try out is about as cool as a blast furnace.

HOW WE CAN HELP YOU

A modern urban myth is that cars don't need servicing much, when the reality is quite the opposite. Modern cars are complex beasties with far more potential to go wrong than say, 10 years ago. Trouble is, maker's service intervals are 'optimistic' and some of the expense that occurs comes as a nasty shock to owners, when the cars are put in for service work.

If you suffer from seasonal allergies like hay fever we can check your car's pollen filter but a lot of our energies will focus on the car's cooling system. Items like radiators and thermostats deteriorate over time to the point that they cannot disperse heat and then more expensive damage can arise. Anti-freeze strength, believe it or not is a good thing to check in summer because it raises the boiling point of water.

Should you be planning on taking your Citroen on holiday -perhaps even abroad- take advantage of our years of experience and ask for our advice.
